What TapTime saves, why it is saved, and what you can control.

Updated November 5, 2026

Your player identity

You do not need to create a personal account or give us an email address or password. The app creates an anonymous player key to recognize your progress. On native devices, that key is kept in secure device storage. A separate temporary player token lets you reconnect to an online room.

Your chosen display name is part of your public profile, is visible to the people you play with, and is saved with your results. Choose a name you are comfortable sharing.

Your public profile

Every player has a public profile. It shows your player ID (a 12-character code of letters and numbers, shown in groups like K7Q2 M9XA 4TPB), your display name, your country flag (unless you hide it), the badges you have earned and when you earned each one, and, if you add them, your profile photo and your Instagram and TikTok usernames. It does not show how close you are to your next badge. Anyone can see it: players in your online rooms, the TV board, anyone who looks up your player ID, and your friends.

Social usernames are optional, and you can clear them at any time. They link out to Instagram or TikTok; TapTime does not connect to those accounts.

Your profile photo

Adding a photo is optional. If you add one, it becomes your public profile picture, and anyone can see it: players in your online rooms, the TV board, anyone who looks up your player ID, and your friends.

TapTime re-encodes every photo before saving it: it crops the photo square, resizes it to 512 pixels, and strips camera and location data (EXIF). The result is stored with our storage provider, DigitalOcean Spaces (Frankfurt region), and served through a content delivery network (CDN).

You can replace or remove your photo at any time in Profile. Deleting your profile deletes it too. Copies already cached by the CDN may persist for up to about a day.

Only upload photos you have the right to share. No nudity, hate, harassment, impersonation, or photos of other people without their consent; our terms have the rules.

Your country

Your profile shows a small flag next to your photo. TapTime sets it once, from the country of the connection the app first used: Cloudflare, which sits in front of TapTime’s servers, tells us the country, and TapTime keeps only the two-letter country code. Your IP address is never stored with your profile or shown to anyone; the technical details that network and server logs see are described below.

You can change your country or hide it at any time in Profile, under Your country. Turn Show my flag off and the flag is left off your public profile and out of online rooms entirely. Deleting your profile deletes your country too.

Friends and recent games

You add friends by their player ID, and you are friends once you have both added each other. Your friend list is private to you. A player you add can see that you added them.

Your recent games are private to you too. They show the names, photos and country flags of the people you played online rooms with.

Blocking

You can block a player from their profile. Blocking ends any friendship between you, both ways. You no longer see their photo or profile: their photo and flag are hidden in your online rooms, on a TV board your phone shows, and in your recent games. They can no longer look up your profile or add you as a friend, and on current versions of the app TapTime keeps the two of you out of the same online room. They aren’t told, and everyone else still sees your profile as before.

Your blocked list is private to you. TapTime keeps it until you unblock someone or delete your profile, and your phone keeps a copy of the blocked player IDs so their photos stay hidden offline. When you join an online room, your blocked list is sent to the game server for that room only, so it can keep you apart; nobody else in the room sees it.

Reports and moderation

You can report a profile for its photo, name or social usernames, for harassment, or for another reason. A report includes what the profile showed at the time, so we can see what was reported even if it changes later.

TapTime reviews reports and may remove a photo, reset a name, or clear social usernames that break the rules.

Games and progress

The app saves game results, personal bests, and badges. With each result it sends whether you won a game with friends and the local date and time you played, so your badges count wins and days played correctly. Offline and unsynced progress is held on your device. When you connect, your anonymous profile and supported progress are synchronized with TapTime’s servers so the app can provide your history and progression.

Completed online matches are also archived separately, including the names and results of participating players. We retain these records to provide match history and investigate service problems. They are separate from your personal progression profile.

Purchases

Apple or Google processes your payment. TapTime does not receive your payment card details. We use RevenueCat to check your Pro access and restore purchases. This involves an anonymous purchase identifier, store transaction and entitlement records, and device or platform information needed to provide the purchase service.

Purchase data is handled under the policies of your app store and RevenueCat. Restoring a purchase is separate from recovering game progress.

Optional Game Center and Play Games

On iOS, you can sign in to Apple Game Center for supported achievements. When you use Game Center, achievement progress is shared with Apple and associated with your Game Center identity. Your Game Center alias and achievements may be visible to other Game Center players under your Apple settings.

On Android, you can sign in to Google Play Games. When you do, achievement progress is shared with Google and associated with your Play Games profile, and it may be visible to other players under your Google settings.

Both are optional. Game Center is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and Play Games by Google’s privacy policy.

Service and website information

Connecting to the website, online rooms, or progress services exposes technical information such as your IP address and request details to the service and its hosting providers. Network and server logs help operate the service, diagnose failures, and apply rate limits.

TapTime has no ads and does not include third-party marketing analytics or advertising tracking code. The website’s warm-up runs in your browser and does not submit your practice score to the game server.

The TV board at taptime.party/tv connects to the game server to show a game from a linked phone. The server relays what the board shows (player names, the links to their profile photos, their country flags, targets, times and scores) in memory only and does not save it; it is gone once the board’s code expires. The board loads profile photos from TapTime’s photo CDN.

Delete your progress

Open Records in the app (called Your rhythm in older versions) and use its delete control to remove your anonymous progression profile and clear saved progress from that installation. Connect to the internet so the server deletion can complete.

Deleting your profile also deletes your profile photo and your country. Copies already cached by the CDN may persist for up to about a day.

Deleting your profile does not remove completed shared-match archives, which can still contain the display name and results used in those matches. It does not cancel a subscription, delete store purchase records, or remove Apple Game Center or Google Play Games achievements. Manage those through Apple or Google.

Because TapTime does not use an email and password account, losing the anonymous player key can prevent access to previous progress. A restored Pro purchase does not restore that key.
